Vitamin E Supplements
Kala Health presents a unique line of newly developed and high-dose vitamin E supplements. Kala Health’s vitamin E supplements are based on unique formula combinations brought together in one capsule. Vitamin E supplements, as the most important fat-soluble antioxidant from food, are of great importance to our health and can consist of up to eight related vitamin E compounds. These vitamin E compounds together form the vitamin E complex: four tocopherols (α- (alpha), β- (beta), γ- (gamma), and δ- (delta) tocopherol) and four tocotrienols (α-, β-, γ-, and δ-tocotrienol).
Kala Health’s vitamin E supplements line allows customers to get all eight natural forms of vitamin E by taking one plant-based capsule. Our vitamin E supplements formula is unmatched worldwide. While other brands offer only vitamin E supplements with tocopherol, Kala Health presents one formula in one capsule with all eight vitamin E isomers, namely: four vitamin E tocopherols and four vitamin E tocotrienols.
In recent years, it has become clear that all four vitamin E tocopherols and all four vitamin E tocotrienols have a strong influence on health when it comes to vitamin E supplements. Foods contain a mixture of tocopherols and tocotrienols. Unfortunately, vitamin E supplements from other brands often contain only α-tocopherol. One-sided supplementation with α-tocopherol reduces the concentrations of other vitamin E compounds (including γ-tocopherol and α-tocotrienol), resulting in the body benefiting less from the health effects of the complete (synergistic) vitamin E complex. For Kala Health, it is therefore a logical step to develop formulas for the vitamin E supplements line. These formulas combine the different isomers into highly potent combinations suitable for each target audience. Kala Health presents its uniquely developed formulas in the following vitamin E supplements line, consisting of: Vitamin E T8 Complete, Vitamin E T8 Vegan, Vitamin E Ultra Tocotrienols, Vitamin E T8 MAX 400IU/50mg, Vitamin E Strong 450 IU/100mg, and Vitamin E Ultra Tocopherol.
With the vitamin E supplements line, Kala Health offers a wide range of vitamin E supplements tailored to the needs of every target group. The Vitamin E supplements Vitamin E T8 Complete, Vitamin E T8 Vegan, Vitamin E Ultra Tocotrienols, Vitamin E T8 MAX 400IU/50mg, Vitamin E Strong 450 IU/100mg, and Vitamin E Ultra Tocopherol are all essential for the natural protection of your cells against oxidative damage, caused, for example, by stress or lifestyle factors. The vitamin E supplements support the body’s (natural) defense system of the cells and contribute to protecting the body from the effects of sunlight and pollution.
The Importance of Tocotrienols
Most people associate vitamin E supplements solely with α-tocopherol. However, vitamin E forms a complex of isomers, including the less-known tocotrienols. These tocotrienols are indeed of great importance because they are more potent than vitamin E supplements with only tocopherols. Recent research suggests that vitamin E supplements with tocotrienols create unique health-promoting effects that tocopherols do not. With Kala Health’s vitamin E supplements line, we present unique formula vitamin E complexes containing both tocopherols and tocotrienols.
Kala Health uses tocotrienols for our vitamin E supplements complex, which are acquired by the producer in a specific way. The producer of Kala Health’s tocotrienols has succeeded in improving absorption by developing a patented ‘self-emulsifying delivery’ system.
The self-emulsifying delivery system ensures that fat-soluble nutrients spontaneously form small spheres (’emulsion’) in the gastrointestinal tract. These fat droplets are rapidly and efficiently absorbed. Research with human volunteers has shown that thanks to this system, the absorption of all individual tocotrienols from vitamin E supplements generally increases significantly.
Sustainability
Sustainability and the quality of vitamin E supplements are of utmost importance to Kala Health. For the oils used in our vitamin E supplements, the following applies:
- All oils rich in tocotrienols come from sustainably certified nurseries.
- All oils are not heated, processed, or refined. The tocopherols and tocotrienols are extracted from the oil through a process called Molecular Distillation. By using Molecular Distillation, Kala Health prevents potential contaminants, the formation of toxic substances such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, glycidyl fatty acid esters, and chlorinated paraffins, and the use of organic solvents.
- Each batch of oil is tested in advance for the absence of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heavy metals by an independent and reputable laboratory in the Netherlands.
- Test reports and certificates are available.
Most providers of vitamin E formulas use refined oils, in which vitamin E is extracted and concentrated at high temperatures. However, the high temperatures in this method can lead to unwanted, highly toxic byproducts. Examples of such substances are benzo(a)pyrene and other Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs). For this reason, Kala Health does not refine the vegetable oils but purifies these oils through distillation at high pressure and low temperatures. This new, clean method prevents the formation of contaminants and effectively removes any existing contaminants.
The Effectiveness of Kala Health’s Vitamin E Supplements
Kala Health emphasizes that our vitamin E supplements, consisting of a complex of tocopherols and tocotrienols, are of high quality. We are happy to provide further information about the background of our vitamin E supplements over the phone.
Currently, the European Commission authorizes only one health claim that we may publish, which is: “Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.”
This claim has been approved by the European Commission and may only be used for foods that contain sufficient vitamin E to achieve the stated effect.
Dosage
A good maintenance dose is 50 mg of mixed tocotrienols per day, while the mixed tocopherols can vary as needed. For therapeutic purposes, the recommended amount of tocotrienols can go up to 100 – 200 mg per day. However, adults can take up to 300 mg of tocopherols per day (1)(2).
Regarding the formulas Vitamin E T8 Complete, Vitamin E T8 Vegan, Vitamin E Ultra Tocotrienols, Vitamin E T8 MAX 400IU/50mg, Vitamin E Strong 450 IU/100mg, and Vitamin E Ultra Tocopherol by Kala Health, the recommended dosage for adults is one capsule per day unless advised otherwise. Since vitamin E is fat-soluble, it is best to take the capsule during a meal.
Side Effects
The use of high-dose vitamin E supplements can lead to non-specific symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, muscle weakness, or headaches.
Safety
Vitamin E is safe for intake, with the following advice for a safe and cautiously maintained upper intake limit for adults (1):
- 300 mg alpha-tocopherol
- 600 mg beta-tocopherol
- 3 grams gamma-tocopherol
- 9.9 grams delta-tocopherol
- 990 mg alpha-tocotrienol
- 6 grams beta-tocotrienol
The biological activity of gamma- and delta-tocotrienols cannot be measured separately, as they always occur in combination with multiple vitamin E isomers (3).
