Description

The product developers at Kala Health discuss which oils are used in our Vitamin E formulas.

Vitamin E Annatto

The Vitamin E Annatto from Kala Health is a tocopherol-free product containing exclusively tocotrienols, derived from the Annatto fruit. Annatto is a rich natural source of tocotrienols and contains 100% tocotrienols, of which 90% are delta-isomers and 10% are gamma-isomers, without tocopherols. Tocotrienol occurs naturally and is primarily found in grains such as rice, barley, wheat, and rye. Rich sources of tocotrienols are annatto and palm oil.

What is Vitamin E Annatto?

Vitamin E Annatto is part of a new line of high-dose vitamin E products developed by Kala Health.

Vitamin E is an essential, fat-soluble vitamin. Our body does not produce vitamin E on its own. Vitamin E must be obtained through diet or dietary supplements.

What are Tocotrienols good for?

Tocotrienols have unique beneficial effects on various tissues in the body, providing a wide spectrum of health support. However, only one health claim is allowed by European authorities:

Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

Oxidative stress occurs when the body is overwhelmed by potentially harmful tissue-damaging ‘free radicals’. Simply put, free radicals are a byproduct of cellular energy metabolism. A certain production of free radicals is useful and desired. The body uses free radicals to combat bacteria and viruses, among other things. To keep the free radicals in check, the body also has an Antioxidant System. This is a collective term for all substances that neutralize excessive free radicals.

Causes of increased free radical production may include:

  • Absorption of heavy metals and toxic substances in the environment
  • Alcohol consumption, medication, and smoking
  • Persistent stress
  • Intensive sports activities, especially top-level sports
  • Exposure to UV radiation

Permitted health claims:

– Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress
