Description
Liposomal B-Complex – 100% RI with Active Vitamin Forms
All eight essential B-vitamins in their most absorbable form. With Methylcobalamin, Pyridoxal-5-phosphate and 5-MTHF folate. No overdosing needed thanks to superior absorption.
✓ Real Lipo-Real® liposomes ✓ Active, methylated forms ✓ 100% RI, no overdosing ✓ Made in the Netherlands
A Different Approach to B-Vitamins
Most B-complexes on the market contain extreme dosages: 500%, 1000% or even 2000% of the reference intake. The thinking behind this is simple: the more, the better. But is that true?
B-vitamins are water-soluble. What the body cannot use is excreted through urine. Overdosing therefore mainly leads to expensive urine. Moreover, many supplements use inactive vitamin forms that the body must first convert, and this conversion does not work equally efficiently for everyone.
Kala Health takes a fundamentally different approach. Our Liposomal B-Complex combines three principles that reinforce each other:
| Principle | What it means | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Active forms | Directly bioavailable | No conversion needed, immediately usable |
| Liposomal technology | 3 to 4 times better absorption | Protection and efficient cellular uptake |
| 100% RI dosage | Exactly what you need | No waste, optimal balance |
The result: a B-complex that is more effective at 100% of the reference intake than competitors with extreme overdoses. Not more, but smarter and milder dosing – making it ideally suited for daily use.
“More is not always better”
“The supplement industry has convinced consumers that higher dosages are automatically better. With water-soluble vitamins, that’s nonsense. The key lies not in the quantity, but in the absorption. By combining active vitamin forms with real liposomal technology, 100% of the reference intake actually reaches the cells. That’s more effective than 1000% of a poorly absorbable form, most of which disappears through urine.”
Paul Klein Breteler, founder of Kala Health and product developer since 1997
100% Reference Intake: The Science Behind the Choice
The reference intake (RI) is the daily amount of a nutrient that is sufficient for virtually all healthy adults. These values have been established by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) based on extensive scientific research.
Why do many manufacturers still dose many times higher? Two reasons:
Firstly: compensation for poor absorption. Standard B-vitamins are only limitedly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. By overdosing, manufacturers hope that enough will eventually get through. An inefficient solution.
Secondly: marketing. Higher numbers look more impressive on the label. Consumers associate more with better, even though this assumption is incorrect.
Kala Health solves the absorption problem at the source: by combining active vitamin forms with liposomal encapsulation, bioavailability is drastically increased. This makes 100% RI not only sufficient, but optimal. All eight B-vitamins are also dosed at the same level, exactly as they work together in nature.

Active Vitamin Forms: Directly Usable by the Body
Not all B-vitamins are equal. Many supplements contain inactive forms that the body must first convert to their active variant. This conversion process does not work equally efficiently for everyone and can be influenced by genetic factors, age and health status.
The Liposomal B-Complex from Kala Health contains the directly active forms where possible:
| Vitamin | Form in our product | Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Vitamin B6 | Pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P5P) | Directly active form, no conversion needed |
| Vitamin B12 | Methylcobalamin | Methylated form, directly biologically active |
| Folate | 5-Methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) | Active folate form, bypasses MTHFR polymorphisms |
This choice for active forms is particularly relevant for people with MTHFR gene variations, a genetic variation that occurs in an estimated 10 to 15% of the population and makes the conversion of folic acid to active folate more difficult. With 5-MTHF in our formula, this conversion is no longer necessary.
What Are Liposomes?
Liposomes are microscopically small spheres built from phospholipids – the same building blocks that make up the body’s own cell membranes. The structure is elegant: the fat-loving (hydrophobic) tails align towards each other, while the water-loving (hydrophilic) heads point outward. This creates a hollow sphere in which active substances such as B-vitamins are encapsulated.
This structure offers two crucial advantages:
Protection during digestion: The liposomal packaging protects the B-vitamins from breakdown by stomach acid and digestive enzymes. While unprotected water-soluble vitamins are partially lost, liposomal B-vitamins remain intact until they reach the intestine.
Improved cellular uptake: Because liposomes are structurally similar to the body’s own cell membranes, they are easily absorbed through the intestinal wall and subsequently by the cells themselves. The result: the B-vitamins actually reach the places where they are needed.
Real Liposomes Versus Marketing Claims
The market for ‘liposomal’ supplements is unfortunately opaque. Many products claim to be liposomal but actually contain other structures. A common alternative are chylomicrons, lipoproteins consisting of a mixture of proteins and fatty substances. Although chylomicrons can improve absorption, they do not offer the same protective double-layer structure as real liposomes.
The difference is significant. Many manufacturers have opted for chylomicrons because until recently no one had succeeded in making real liposomes in dry form. Kala Health was not satisfied with that. Through multiple intermediate steps, we have succeeded in converting B-vitamins into real dry liposomes using Lipo-Real® technology.
Test it yourself: Is your liposomal product real?
Want to know if a liposomal powder is real? Stir some powder into a glass of water. Real dry liposomes form a clear, homogeneous solution within seconds. Non-liposomal powders remain cloudy or clump together.

Realistic Expectations About Absorption
Very high figures about improved absorption through liposomes circulate on the internet, such as claims that liposomal vitamins would be absorbed 20 times better. These are often unreliable or fraudulent studies. All solid scientific research shows the following: it is responsible to state that a substance in liposomal form is absorbed on average 3 to 4 times better compared to the non-liposomal form.
For water-soluble vitamins such as B-vitamins, this improved absorption is particularly valuable. These vitamins are naturally excreted quickly, causing a large portion of standard supplements to be lost. Liposomal encapsulation ensures that more of the ingested dose is actually utilised. This is precisely why 100% RI is more than sufficient with our formula.
Lipo-Real® Technology: How Does It Work?
Lipo-Real® technology uses phosphatidylcholine from sunflower as the basis for the liposomes. Phosphatidylcholine is a natural phospholipid that also occurs in the body’s own cell membranes. Through a patented production process, the B-vitamins are encapsulated in stable, dry liposomes.
What makes this technology special is that the liposomes are stored in dry powder form – more stable and longer lasting than liquid liposomal formulas. As soon as the powder comes into contact with moisture in the digestive tract, active liposomes spontaneously form that protect and transport the B-vitamins.
Complete B-Complex with Choline and Inositol
In addition to the eight official B-vitamins, our formula also contains choline and inositol. These substances are often counted as part of the B-vitamin family because of their close cooperation with the other B-vitamins in the body.
