The power of Tocotrienols
Tocotrienols are called the “Super Vitamin E of the 21st century”. These lesser-known forms of vitamin E have an unsaturated structure that makes them more flexible than the more common tocopherols. Due to their flexible, unsaturated structure, tocotrienols can move through cell membranes faster than tocopherols. This explains the growing scientific interest in these rare forms of vitamin E.
The problem: tocotrienols occur only to a very limited extent in food. The richest natural source is palm oil. To achieve a therapeutic dosage of 200+ mg tocotrienols through diet, you would need to consume more than 300 grams of palm oil daily – practically impossible.
Kala Health Vitamin E Ultra Tocotrienol has been specially developed for people looking for the highest possible dosage of mixed tocotrienols. With 205 mg tocotrienols per capsule, this is among the strongest tocotrienol supplements in the world.
Developed by Paul Klein Breteler
“Tocotrienols are the most fascinating forms of vitamin E. The scientific literature on tocotrienols is growing explosively, but highly concentrated supplements are scarce. The challenge was to find an oil that is not only extremely rich in tocotrienols, but also completely free from contaminants such as PAHs. For Vitamin E Ultra Tocotrienol, we use only oil that has been purified through molecular distillation and tested by an independent laboratory. The result is one of the most concentrated and purest tocotrienol formulas available.” – Paul Klein Breteler, founder Kala Health
The 4 Tocotrienols in ultra dosage
Vitamin E Ultra Tocotrienol contains all four natural tocotrienols in a highly concentrated formula:
- d-Gamma-tocotrienol (103 mg) – The most researched tocotrienol, highest concentration in this formula
- d-Alpha-tocotrienol (71 mg) – Powerful antioxidant with unique properties
- d-Delta-tocotrienol (23 mg) – Potent form with high biological activity
- d-Beta-tocotrienol (7 mg) – Rare form with specific action
Total per capsule: 205 mg mixed tocotrienols = 24 mg-TE (35 IU) vitamin E value – 200% of the Reference Intake.
Why Gamma-Tocotrienol?
Gamma-tocotrienol is the most researched and most abundant tocotrienol in this formula (103 mg). Scientific research has focused particularly on gamma- and delta-tocotrienol because of their unique properties. By combining all four tocotrienols in their natural ratio, you benefit from a complete and synergistic tocotrienol complex.

Why such a high dosage of Tocotrienols?
Tocotrienols are rare in food and must be taken in sufficient amounts to be effective. Scientific research typically uses dosages of 200-400 mg tocotrienols per day.
Better permeability
Due to their flexible, unsaturated structure, tocotrienols can move through cell membranes faster than tocopherols. This explains the growing scientific interest in these lesser-known forms of vitamin E.
Extremely rare in food
While tocopherols are reasonably abundant in vegetable oils, nuts and seeds, tocotrienols are much rarer. The richest natural source is palm oil with approximately 800 mg tocotrienols per kilogram of oil.
To obtain 205 mg tocotrienols through diet, you would need to consume more than 300 grams of palm oil daily – practically impossible. Other sources such as rice bran, barley and wheat contain even less tocotrienols, requiring you to eat kilograms per day.
Therapeutic dosage
Scientific research on tocotrienols typically uses dosages between 200-400 mg per day. Vitamin E Ultra Tocotrienol provides 205 mg per capsule – a scientifically based dosage that is virtually impossible to achieve through diet.
Focus on Tocotrienols
Unlike our Vitamin E T8 Complete formula (with all 8 forms), Ultra Tocotrienol has been specially developed for people specifically looking for a maximum dosage of tocotrienols. With 205 mg tocotrienols per capsule, this is one of the most concentrated tocotrienol supplements in the world.
100% Natural d-forms
Like all our vitamin E products, Ultra Tocotrienol contains exclusively natural d-forms. There is a fundamental difference between natural and synthetic vitamin E:
Natural vitamin E (d-form)
Natural vitamin E is recognized by the prefix ‘d-‘ (such as d-gamma-tocotrienol) or ‘RRR-‘. This is the form as it occurs in nature – one specific molecular structure that the body optimally recognizes and can use.
Synthetic vitamin E (dl-form)
Synthetic vitamin E is designated with ‘dl-‘ (such as dl-alpha-tocopherol). This is a mixture of 8 different stereoisomers, of which only one (12.5%) is identical to the natural form. The other 7 forms are mirror images that the body cannot use as efficiently.
The result: Natural vitamin E is approximately twice as biologically active as synthetic vitamin E. Kala Health Vitamin E Ultra Tocotrienol contains exclusively natural d-forms – no synthetic variants.
Vegan formula
Unlike our other vitamin E products that use a softgel capsule made from bovine gelatin, Vitamin E Ultra Tocotrienol is completely suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
HPMC plant-based capsule
The capsule is made from hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) – a plant-based cellulose derived from pine wood. HPMC capsules are:
- 100% plant-based and vegan
- Free from animal ingredients
- Suitable for all dietary patterns
- Stable and well-sealing
- Easy to swallow
Choice for vegans
For our highly concentrated tocotrienol formula, we have deliberately chosen a plant-based HPMC capsule, so that vegetarians and vegans can also benefit from this powerful vitamin E form. The tocotrienols themselves are extracted from sustainably certified palm oil – a 100% plant-based source.
Quality and purity: our obsession
Vitamin E is extracted from vegetable oils. Various quality issues arise during the extraction of these raw materials. Kala Health does not settle for “good enough” – we strive for the highest possible purity.
The problem with conventional oils
Many vitamin E oils are heated, processed and refined to optimize yields. This can create toxic substances:
- PAHs – Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons
- GEs (GFAEs) – Glycidyl Fatty Acid Esters
- CPs – Chlorinated Paraffins
- Solvent residues – Residues from organic solvents
Our solution: molecular distillation
All oils we use are not heated, processed or refined in a conventional manner. Instead, the tocotrienols are extracted from the oil using Molecular Distillation – a process at high pressure and low temperature.
The result:
- Any contaminants are left behind
- No toxic substances such as PAHs, GEs and CPs are formed
- No use of organic solvents
- Maximum preservation of the natural tocotrienols

Independent laboratory testing
Every batch of oil we use is tested in advance by an independent and reputable laboratory in the Netherlands for:
- PAHs – Below lowest possible detection limit (<2 ppb B(a)P and <10 ppb Σ4PAHs)
- Heavy metals – Lead <3.0 ppm, cadmium <1.0 ppm, mercury <0.1 ppm
- Microbiological analysis – Negative for E. coli, Salmonella, Staphylococcus aureus
- Tocotrienol content – Verification of concentration and composition
We only use the oil after the laboratory has confirmed that such contaminants have not been detected. All test reports and certificates are available for those who wish to view them.
Sustainable sourcing
Tocotrienols are mainly extracted from palm oil. We are aware of the sustainability issues surrounding palm oil and take our responsibility:
- All tocotrienol oil comes from sustainably certified palm oil plantations
- 100% plant-based – Palm oil is a completely plant-based source
- No deforestation – we only source from suppliers who adhere to strict sustainability standards
- Vegan certified – Suitable for vegetarians and vegans
Our quality guarantee
It is our experience that almost no supplier of tocotrienol supplements pays attention to contaminants such as PAHs. But we do. Sustainability and quality are of the utmost importance to us. In this way, we can guarantee to offer the most concentrated tocotrienol formula of the highest quality.
Health claims for vitamin E
The following health claim for vitamin E is scientifically substantiated and approved by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA):
Cell protection
- Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress – This is the primary and most well-known function of vitamin E as an antioxidant
Oxidative stress occurs when there is an imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants in the body. Free radicals can damage cells, proteins and DNA. Vitamin E, as a fat-soluble antioxidant, particularly protects cell membranes – the fat-rich outer layer of cells – against this damage. Tocotrienols are particularly effective in penetrating cell membranes due to their unique structure.
Scientifically substantiated
The above health claim has been officially approved by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) following extensive scientific research. This claim is based on the presence of a significant amount of vitamin E in the product and the proven role of vitamin E as an antioxidant in the body.
Where are Tocotrienols found?
Vitamin E is not produced by the body and must be obtained through food or supplements. However, tocotrienols are extremely rare in food.
Sources of Tocotrienols
Tocotrienols occur much less frequently in nature than tocopherols:
- Palm oil – By far the richest source (up to 800 mg/kg), contains 78% tocotrienols
- Rice bran – Contains approximately 50% tocotrienols, but low total concentration
- Barley, wheat, rye, oats – In very limited amounts
- Annatto seeds – Contains mainly delta- and gamma-tocotrienol
The big problem: To achieve a therapeutic dosage of 205 mg tocotrienols through diet, you would need to consume more than 300 grams of palm oil daily. With rice bran, this would mean 3-5 kilograms per day, and with grains such as wheat and barley even 15-20 kilograms per day. In practice, this is completely impossible, making highly concentrated supplementation the only realistic option.
Why supplements are necessary
For tocopherols (the more well-known forms of vitamin E), you can still achieve a reasonable intake from nuts, seeds and vegetable oils. But for tocotrienols, this is virtually impossible. Even people with a very varied and healthy diet rarely get more than 5-10 mg tocotrienols per day. For the dosages used in scientific research (200-400 mg/day), concentrated supplements are the only practical solution.

Dosage and recommendations
Recommended intake
For general wellbeing, the Adequate Intake (AI) of alpha-tocopherol is set at 12 mg/day. The Safe Upper Limit for adults is 300 mg/day alpha-tocopherol. For tocotrienols, there is no official upper limit, as scientific research has shown dosages up to 400 mg per day to be safe.
Vitamin E Ultra Tocotrienol provides per capsule:
- 205 mg mixed tocotrienols – A therapeutic dosage based on scientific research
